Our mission is to provide comprehensive and rigorous training in dental assisting, equipping our students with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism necessary to excel in the dental field. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages academic excellence, ethical practice, and a commitment to lifelong learning. During this 10-week program, through hands-on experience, state-of-the-art facilities, and experienced faculty, we aim to prepare our graduates to be competent, compassionate, and confident dental assistants who contribute positively to the healthcare community and improve patient care.
Carrie Garrison is a Nationally Board-Certified Dental assistant with over 26 years of experience in the dental field. Carrie worked as a Dental Surgical assistant for an Oral Maxillofacial surgeon's office for 21 years making patient care her priority by assisting with dental implants, biopsies, and wisdom teeth removal, etc. in the office setting. She also assisted oral surgeons at Holmes Regional Medical Center with orthognathic surgery, trauma patients, and cancer patients.
Carrie is currently a teacher at Viera High School and has been teaching there for the last 5 years. The program that she oversees is a 3-year program, first-year Anatomy and Physiology, second-year Health Science Foundations, and third-year Dental Aide. Students at Viera have the opportunity to get certified in CPR, BLS, First Aid, and safety as Carrie is also an instructor for the American Heart Association.
Carrie believes in a hands-on approach to teaching, ensuring that students gain practical experience alongside theoretical knowledge. She is dedicated to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students are empowered to succeed.
With a deep-rooted passion for dentistry and a strong family background in the field, Phil has been at the forefront of dental practice management since 2015. Inspired by his three younger brothers, who are general dentists in other states, Phil embraced the opportunity to enter the dental industry, leveraging his skills and dedication to excel in various management roles.
Currently, Phil serves as the COO of Brevard Endodontics, the largest privately owned specialty dental office in Brevard County, Florida. Prior to this role, he successfully managed multiple dental offices in Nebraska and South Dakota, consistently demonstrating his ability to build and lead effective teams. As a proud member of the American Association of Dental Office Management (AADOM), Phil stays abreast of the latest trends and best practices in dental office management.
Armed with an MBA in Healthcare Management, Phil brings a unique blend of business acumen and healthcare expertise to his role. He is dedicated to establishing a dental assisting school with the best reputation in Florida, aiming to produce graduates who are not only highly competent but also compassionate and patient-centered.
Throughout his career, Phil has been driven by a commitment to helping patients, especially those facing pain, trauma, or fear. He believes in the power of innovation and continuously seeks out new technologies and techniques to enhance patient care. His teaching philosophy emphasizes active participation and understanding the 'why' behind every procedure, fostering a deep sense of responsibility and empathy in students.
Outside of his professional life, Phil is an active community member and volunteer. He participates in local church activities and has contributed to storm cleanup efforts and international humanitarian projects, including projects in Kenya and Nepal.
Phil's vision for the Dental Assisting School of Excellence is to create a nurturing and rigorous learning environment where future dental assistants can thrive, equipped with the skills and knowledge to excel in their careers and make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients.
